There’s been a lot of looking lately, especially at Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner’s earlier works.
Of course you can only get so much from viewing paintings from a screen but the availability of their works in Scandinavia is somewhat limited. Starting from a point of Krasners’ paintings I looked into how she utilized movement in circular forms and empty circles. Combined with a rather non-Pollock mark, though still inspired by his more well known drop paintings, I began building up a basic composition.
Lee Krasner, 1966
The painting pictured here is unfinished for now, as it will require drying and thinking time. Still, in exploring other artists' marks and looking to combine them in various ways I’m hoping to break my own subconscious barriers and visual blocks by reducing the to very clear movements.
